Boeing 737 Reference Guide: GORE® SKYFLEX® Aerospace Tapes, 200 Series
Installation Guides, Technical Information, United States
For over 30 years, W. L. Gore & Associates’ aerospace sealants have successfully solved many surface protection and sealing challenges in defense and civil aircraft. When removing the Boeing 737 Next-Gen Heat Exchanger Inlet Duct for routine maintenance checks, the 200 Series tape of GORE® SKYFLEX® Aerospace Materials must be inspected for any damage or improper installation.
This reference guide should be utilized in conjunction with the general GORE SKYFLEX Aerospace Materials Inspect, Reuse and Repair Guide, which can be found at www.gore.com/skyflex. If existing materials must be replaced, please refer to the Boeing Aircraft Maintenance Manual (AMM).
Inspection
GORE SKYFLEX Aerospace Tapes, 200 Series, part numbers GUA1301-1 and GUA1302-1, are recommended for installation on both composite ducts included in the Boeing 737 Next-Gen Heat Exchanger Inlet Duct. Upon installation or whenever the Boeing 737 Next-Gen Heat Exchanger Inlet Duct is removed for routine maintenance checks, Boeing AMM Sub-task 21-51-24-210-001 requires the inspection of Gore's 200 Series tape for these conditions:
- Missing or damaged sections
- Presence of oil and grease
- Dirt or debris
Removal, Replacement and Installation
Boeing AMM Sub-Task 21-51-24- 360-001 outlines the removal and replacement procedures for damaged or unserviceable sections of GORE SKYFLEX Aerospace Materials, 200 Series. Upon replacement, ensure the Gore’s 200 Series tape is installed correctly. This will protect the mating surfaces and help to ensure the system’s efficiency.

GORE SKYFLEX Aerospace Materials, including the 200 Series tape, are available in a variety of form-in-place (FIP) tapes and die-cut gaskets in many sizes. Gore’s diverse portfolio delivers proven performance across the board, providing design engineers, manufacturers and operators with many benefits compared to other FIP seals such as:
Reliable and Predictable Surface Protection
Made with highly conformable, non-hazardous materials, GORE SKYFLEX Aerospace Materials, 200 Series, provide durable protection against aggressive fluids, extreme temperatures, mechanical forces and other environmental hazards. This results in less replacement, a decreased need to rework seals and lower life-cycle costs, as they maintain their performance over multiple open/close cycles.
Simpler Aircraft Assembly
GORE SKYFLEX Aerospace Tapes, 200 Series, support design goals for manufacturing with dry materials and allow for easier, faster installation thanks to being single-component, non-curing materials. Plus, no operator certification or special handling of Gore’s aerospace materials is required.
