Overview

Improve in-flight WIRELESS CONNECTIVITY

In a modern world where connecting to the Internet means connecting to everyone, we expect to have access everywhere all the time. Even aboard airplanes, passengers expect to get online quickly, send emails, post on social media and watch in-flight entertainment (IFE) while airborne.

GORE Leaky Feeder Antennas offer a durable, reliable solution for both wide-body and single-aisle commercial aircraft that ensures passengers take off and stay connected. With a single antenna installed along the length of the cabin, passengers can access wireless networks on their portable devices and watch IFE — regardless of where they sit on the plane.

Our antennas are proven to provide strong, uniform signal propagation while significantly reducing dead spots over broad frequencies from 400 MHz up to 6 GHz and antenna lengths. Mounted in the aircraft ceiling above the aisles, they provide reliable connectivity to different wireless networks, including access points to airborne Wi-Fi and picocells for mobile phone coverage.

DURABLE, LIGHTWEIGHT MATERIALS

Built with durable engineered fluoropolymers, GORE Leaky Feeder Antennas protect against challenging conditions, like abrasion and cut-through to reduce the potential damage during installation.

Another bonus is that our lightweight materials save valuable weight in aircraft and increase fuel efficiency. Being highly flexible, maintainers can tightly route our cables without breaking them in new and existing airplanes.

Reduced Costs for Wireless Access

Airplanes typically use broadband technology, requiring separate equipment for each wireless protocol. But, a single Gore antenna allows integrated hardware to run multiple protocols throughout the cabin, reducing the amount of wireless-N access points (N-WAPs) needed to ensure signal coverage. They reduce equipment costs by offering one solution that provides reliable connectivity for a variety of electronic devices.

These lightweight antennas don’t require any maintenance either because of their durable construction, so they’ll last as long as the aircraft is in service, reducing maintenance and operating costs even more.

Features & Benefits

Engineered with exceptional features, GORE Leaky Feeder Antennas are more durable against challenging environmental factors and aircraft conditions, including:

  • non-flammable, non-radiating, smoke-protective materials
  • cut-through and abrasion-resistant materials
  • lightweight, flexible construction with tight bending

Our aircraft antennas offer system architects and engineers additional advantages that improve their overall performance in demanding maintenance and flight conditions like:

  • consistent wireless connectivity across broad frequencies from 400 MHz to 6 GHz
  • reliable connectivity to Wi-FI access points and picocells for mobile phone coverage
  • uniform signal propagation and reduced dead spots throughout the cabin
  • reduced hardware sets with a single antenna throughout the cabin
  • resistance to cut-through and abrasion for less damage during routing
  • easy new installation and retrofit in wide-body and single-aisle aircraft
  • weight savings, no maintenance and reduced costs over aircraft lifetime

Applications

Optimal for single-aisle and wide-body passenger aircraft, GORE Leaky Feeder Antennas are a reliable solution typically used in the following:

  • Picocells for mobile phone coverage
  • Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac
  • WiMAX

These airborne cables also reliably support connectivity to Bluetooth, DECT, DECT2, Globalstar, GSM, IRIDIUM Sat, MMS, PDC and TETRA protocols.
